First Fleet Fellowship Victoria Inc

In 1984, several First Fleet descendants residing in Melbourne took the decision to establish a Fellowship that they might actively work together to honour their 1788 forebears.  Membership was opened to people claiming direct descent from among those arriving with Captain Arthur Phillip on the First Fleet at Sydney Cove on 26 January 1788.  Membership categories were also available to children, Spouses and Friends of the Fellowship.

Since its inception the Fellowship has developed a vibrant organization with an Australia wide and International membership.  Its members have participated in celebrations and functions all designed towards creating public awareness in the community of the significance of the First Fleet’s arrival in 1788.

Meetings are held in the Mission to Seafarers, 717 Flinders Street Melbourne, on Sundays 1.00pm February, April, June, August, October and December.  A well-stocked library on early Australian history and First Fleeter’s family histories is opened for borrowing at all meetings.

Make sure you visit the First Fleet Fellowship table at the Sale Family History Expo.  Members will be there for you to

  • Find out if you have one or more First Fleeter’s in your family tree.
  • Sell you Charts with the eleven ships and one listing all those that arrived in 1788.
  • Other charts featuring Australian topics will also be on sale and much more.
